RIRs are organizations that manage the allocation and registration of IP addresses within specific world regions. The five RIRs are: ARIN (North America), RIPE NCC (Europe/Middle East/Central Asia), APNIC (Asia-Pacific), LACNIC (Latin America/Caribbean), and AFRINIC (Africa). Each maintains its own WHOIS database.
An ASN (Autonomous System Number) is a unique identifier assigned to a network or group of networks managed by a single organization (like an ISP or large enterprise). Knowing the ASN helps understand who controls the IP address, what routing policies are in place, and whether the IP belongs to a hosting provider or residential ISP.
IP Location Lookup shows the geographic location, ISP, and connection type of an IP. It returns structured JSON data instead of plain text, supports internationalized registration data, provides differentiated access levels, and includes built-in HTTPS encryption. This tool uses RDAP when available.
Not always. Some IP blocks, especially those used by VPNs, proxies, or private networks, may show limited WHOIS data. Additionally, certain registries may restrict access or redact some fields. If no WHOIS data is found, the tool will display whatever information is publicly available.
